Who are the union?

Branch Chairman:

 

Branch Chairman Angus Simpson

Angus Simpson is one of our senior shop stewards in the Offshore Branch         

As well as being Branch Chairman he is a very active shop steward on board the Brae Alpha, where he is employed by Universal Sodexho, as a night cook / baker.

He has been an active shop steward in the Brae Field for the past 18 years, where he was very involved in the setting up of the field agreement that is in use there. He is always available to any member for words of advice on their employment rights, also anyone seeking information on how to join the T&G. He also gained valuable experience on Sodexho European Works Council of where he was a bureau member.

Branch Secretary:

Branch Secretary Ian Mundie

Ian Mundie has been a T&G member for the past 28 years and is one of the senior shop stewards.

Having started work in the North Sea in October 1979 and joining the T&G shortly after starting, he has seen vast changes since the early days which are down to the efforts of everyone involved in the trade union movement offshore since.

He now works, as a chef on the Brent Delta and like any of our shop stewards is available to anyone seeking advice on trade union matters, existing members or someone looking to join.

Learning Rep:

 

Victor Fraser was elected to the post of COTA learning rep to the on the 1st March 2005 and re-elected 2007. He is a long serving shop steward with the offshore branch and he also served as a stand-down officer for the T&G, dealing with a wide variety of company's as well as the C.O.T.A. group.

As the learning rep he is based in the T&G offices in Aberdeen Monday to Friday and can be contacted on 01224 645271. He will source information on any training requirements of our membership, also support the shop stewards where required.

Regional Industrial Organiser (RIO)

 

 

John Taylor has served as a union officer in Aberdeen for over 19 years firstly with the Transport & General Workers Union and now Unite. During this time as Regional Industrial Organiser he has had responsibility for our offshore members.  

Specifically in relation to the offshore industry, John has been a member of the OPITO’s board for the last 19 years and at present, he is chairperson of the Offshore Training Foundation.

Along with other Union officials, John has represented the TUC on the Oil Industry Advisory Committee and the Helicopter Liaison Group.  John is current chairperson of the Inter Union Offshore Oil Committee and as part of this role is a representative on the Step Change Leadership Team.

John continues to fight to improve safety for offshore workers while also improving our members terms & conditions. He would also be the first to admit that this can only be achieved through the continued involvement of you the members.
