New Terms and Conditions As many of you will be aware your employer have now issued new terms and conditions for you to sign and return to them. These terms and conditions are issued so as to incorporate the minimum standards contained within the new COTA agreement and in no way will they reduce your current entitlement.
However we would ask all members to read these carefully before signing them, in particular we advise you to pay attention to the date the contract starts and also the continuous employment date.
Should either date be incorrect then you should raise this with your employer as a matter of urgency as a mistake in this section may be difficult to correct at a later date. It could also reduce any redundancy / medical retirement payment due to you, your sick pay being incorrect and may even prove to be the difference between you keeping your employment or losing your job.
The concerns Unite had with previous terms and conditions issued by some COTA employers without due consultation have now been resolved.
Should you have any ongoing concerns with your new terms and conditions please contact the Aberdeen office above for advice.
Ex Transocean / GSF Caterers Consultation on the harmonization of contracts with members who transferred from Transocean to ESS has now been concluded. ESS have advised the Trade Unions that all back pay applicable to these employees will be paid in their salary 1st June 2011. New contracts of employment will also be issued and as above we would advise members to pay particular attention to the original commencement date before signing.
Union Membership Can you please ensure that if you have not received this communication directly from the Offshore Catering Branch of Unite that you contact the Aberdeen office to update your contact details. Please pass this advise on to any Unite caterer on your unit who has not received this communication directly, in particular members of the ex-Amicus section. This way we can place all caterers into the correct working Branch which will assist us in providing all our members with the service they deserve.
Offshore catering managers working hours and bullying questionnaires. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete and return the two questionnaires the general findings of which will be raised with COTA at the next meeting. As previously confirmed no personal details will be disclosed.
Branch Meetings The next Branch meeting dates are yet to be confirmed due to the upcoming Joint Shop Stewards meetings. Once dates have been set this will communicated to members and placed on the news page of the Branch website.
Can you please forward above information to members on your unit and also any unit where you are aware there is not yet a Shop Steward present. In the meantime for the latest information affecting Offshore Members please keep checking the news page on our Branch’s website at www.tgwuoffshore.org.uk
Thank you for your continued support in fighting for our member’s rights.
Yours Fraternally Unite the union – Offshore Catering Branch
